HUMOR
AND HEALING
George Burns
once commented "Who can die. I¹m booked." His sense of humor may have
had something to do with his nearly 100 years of zestful life, in spite
of what others may have considered less-than-ideal living (such as smoking
cigars and drinking hard liquor). Bob Hope, Milton Burl and other comedians
outlived the typical American male. Maybe laughter had something to do
with their above average lifespans. Laughter has been called "internal
jogging" by Norman Cousins. Laughter helps us to generate endorphins, or
chemical messengers from the brain which help to bolster immune functions
and improve other aspects of our body¹s defenses. There is compelling
scientific evidence that happy chemicals from the brain help to improve
digestion, circulation, stress management, immune defenses and more. As
Depak Chopra, MD has stated so eloquently "Every cell in your body is eavesdropping
on your thoughts." Add some fun thoughts and regular chuckles to your day
and you might find some improvements in your health. This section of our
web site is dedicated to bringing some mirth and merriment into your life.
Humor is very subjective. No offense is intended. Life is full of
injustices and absurdities. Humor helps us to cope with these. As former
President John Kennedy said in 1961 "Humor is the balancing stick that
allows us to walk the tightrope of life." May your walk be enjoyable.
May this section add something to your daily chuckles.
