When St. Mary's By The Sea located in Huntington Beach, California, was under the guide ship of Pastor Dan Johnson. St. Mary's was flourishing with abundance of a traditional happy congregation who believed in Kneeling to receive the body of Jesus Christ. Perhaps Bishop Brown needs to take a crash coarse to remind himself what as been written in the bible; "Therefore GOD also has exalted Him and has bestowed upon Him the name that is above every name, so thatAT THE NAME OF JESUS EVERY KNEE SHOULD BEND of those in heaven, on earth and under the earth, and every tongue should confess that the Lord Jesus Christ is in the glory of GOD the Father." Philippians 2:9-11.Not to beat this incident into the ground, but often time it needs to be brought to the attention of those who were not aware of what took place, therefore... let us point out again how Bishop Brown has always been against Catholics kneeling to receive their Lord, God. The 'Lady' who knelt in the presents of Bishop Brown while he served Holy Communion at St. John The Baptist Catholic church in Costa Mesa California, was forced up from kneeling to stand by Bishop Brown pulling her left arm and shouting at her. If it had been me kneeling and Bishop Brown grabbed my arm to pull me up. I would have pulled him down without no problem of guilt whatsoever!! And he would have stayed down with me!!! Yes, I believe we should pray for such people as Bishop Brown to get back to the basics of traditional Latin Masses, but some times we also need to fight fire with fire, as this is the only what some folks understand!!! We as Catholics are not doormats, nor deserved to be treated as such!! What the good ole Bishop did not realize that while he was grabbing the 'Lady's' arm to pull her up from the floor, all of this was being filmed on video, and later to be shown on "YOUTUBE" on the world wide internet, and of course into all of the newspapers. You might say, this has all come back to bite Bishop Brown on the backside!!! And isn't going to go away!!
Moving along with our editorial view; Pastor Dan Johnson was a big thorn in Bishop Brown's side, simply because Pastor Johnson was serving the beautiful 12 noon Sunday Tridentine Mass, the very Latin Mass that Bishop Brown was against! When Pastor Johnson passed on, Bishop Brown became a 'Happy Camper' because now the thorn was removed from his side and that thorn was the removal of the Tridentine Mass, on top of the removal of the Tridentine Mass, the Bishop even tried to stop kneelers from kneeling to receive Holy Communion, but he lost out on that one.
The Tridentine
Mass Was Served At Pastor Johnson Funeral
Guess Who
Showed Up And Knelt? The Hypocrite!!!
Being like most of St. Mary's flock under Father Johnson guide attended his funeral, and like most of us who attended that day, saw the very same Bishop who was against kneeling who pulled up the 'Lady's' arm from kneeling, and against the Tridentine Mass . He, meaning [who else] Bishop Brown was kneeling to a Mass he always wanted to get rid of. A lot of devoted good folks I had talked to after attending the funeral, felt the same way as I did, when they saw this Bishop kneeling and serving communion to those who knelt to receive. The word used was; "A Hypocrite". In the meantime...Bishop Brown has paid out millions of dollars on law suits , and its not getting any better!!!Coming Soon! ... A special talk radio show will be in the works soon, on "CRUSADE RADIO" with invitations out to anyone who wishes to come on the show. For further information watch our "RESTORE THE SACRED" web site Message Forum.
Here are some points brought out by the following Pope's etc. "Wasn't the Tridentine Mass banned? No, but following the Second Vatican Council, its public use was restricted by most Bishops." Yeah and Bishop Brown was one among many against the Tridentine Mass.
Didn't the Second Vatican Council forbid Latin Masses?
Not at all. The Council, in its Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy, said: "The use of the Latin language is to be preserved". The Council merely gave permission for the limited introduction of the vernacular (or local language) into certain parts of the Mass when celebrated in public.

THE FAITHFUL; PLEDGES TO MAKE DIOCESE OF ORANGE RESPONSIVE AND ACCOUNTABLE;
WILL DEDICATE PERIOD OF LENT TO REMORSE FOR SEXUAL ABUSE VICTIMSTod D. Brown, D.D., Bishop of Orange, (CA) announced today that he is proclaiming The Covenant with the Faithful, a new set of operating principles designed to make the Roman Catholic Diocese more receptive and responsive to the needs of its priests and the laity. The Covenant also addresses the sexual abuse scandal and the Diocese’s responsibilities in helping victims to heal and in preventing abuses in the future.
“This is a time of travail, for the American Catholic Church in general, and also for our Diocese of Orange,” said the Bishop. “The present sexual abuse scandal in the United States is the most notorious in the history of the Catholic Church in our nation. There is no excuse for us having allowed the scandal to become a widespread, disgraceful cavalcade of priest-after-priest committing crimes against children and young people over and over again.”
Bishop Brown expressed remorse for the victims and called for all bishops and anyone else who allowed acknowledged pedophile personnel to remain in the ministry to be held accountable.
“Today I am again publicly apologizing to the victims of clergy sexual abuse, and I seek their forgiveness and the restoration of their trust,” said Bishop Brown. “I realize that this will take time, and will not happen overnight. This is why I am dedicating Lent 2004 as a time to express remorse for these sins and pray for the healing of pain suffered by the victims and their families.”
Bishop Brown called on all Catholics in the Diocese to wear ashes on Ash Wednesday as a sign that “we acknowledge the pain of the victims and pray as a community, our Diocesan family, for the injury done to our members. I know that I can never fully atone for the hurt inflicted by those who are guilty, but as the Bishop of Orange, I can do penance and I will - and I can beg for the forgiveness and I will continue to do so.”
The sex abuse scandal was the catalyst that brought about the revolutionary changes that are contained in the Covenant, said Bishop Brown, calling the situation a “wake-up call.”
“I am announcing today that my brother bishops of Orange and I have pledged ourselves to The Covenant with the Faithful, that sets a new course for the leadership of our Diocese,” said Bishop Brown. “No longer will it be business as usual with directives coming down with little going up.”
The Covenant addresses directly the problems that have precipitated this crisis, and also the basic principles of the Diocese, said Bishop Brown. “Our Church of Orange will become more transparent, responsive, and accountable. We will become more receptive to the needs of our faithful, and our priests.”
The seven theses contained in the Covenant call for renewed efforts to assist victims and families of sexual abuse; procedures to protect children from future abuse; programs that will enable Catholic laity to have a voice in church affairs; empowering priests with a greater voice in church governance; a policy of open and transparent communications; a pledge to restore confidence in the hierarchy; a commitment to the welfare of the entire community of Orange County, and efforts to heal the hurt among clergy who have been humiliated by the actions of priests who abused children.
Our Thanks Go To Cartoonist Andrzej Where was Bishop Tod Brown when he was petitioned to restore the "Tridentine Mass." at St. Mary's By The Sea Catholic Church in Huntington Beach, California?? He refused the petitioners to restore the Sacred "Tridentine Mass." Let us not kid ourselves... Bishop Brown has always been against the "Tridentine Mass" and kneeling to receive communion. So therefore now he has set himself up in the eyes of the Pope to be a martyr of his flock, by what seems to be the direction from the Pope. Well if this be so perhaps the good ole 'Bish' will restore the "Tridentine Mass" at St. Mary's by the sea, and to all the churches who may have asked for the restoration of the Tridentine Mass. To be totally honest, I do not trust the Bishop, never did and never will, and so do hundreds of others feel the same way, because he has a habit of swaying in the winds.

"An Additional Mass in Latin to be Celebrated""Bishop Brown oversees all aspects of the liturgical life of or local Church. This includes the implementation of Ecclesia Dei, a 1988 apostolic letter by Pope John Paul II in which he recognized the "rightful aspirations" of all Catholics who wished to worship according to traditional forms and called upon bishops to apply both widely and generously the indult, Quattor abhinc annos, issued by the Congregation for Divine Worship on October 3, 1984. A similar moto proprio is expected soon from Pope Benedict XVI.
Bishop Brown has listened to the concerns of those faithful of our local Church who are attached to the older liturgical form of the Mass, i.e., the Missal of 1962, often referred to as the "Tridentine Mass." Although one such Mass is currently celebrated each Sunday morning at 8:00 AM at the historic Serra Chapel of Mission San Juan Capistrano, the level of interest is such that Bishop Brown has directed that an additional Mass utilizing the Missale Romanum – editio typica 1962 (Latin Mass) will be celebrated "ad experimentum" at the John Paul II Polish Center, located at 3999 Rose Drive in Yorba Linda, on Sundays at 7:00 AM. The first Mass at that location will be celebrated on the 25th of February 2007, the First Sunday of Lent.
Bishop Brown made his decision after consultation with his College of Consultors and with the agreement of Fr. George Blais, the director of the Center, and the willingness of the Rt. Reverend Eugene Hayes O. Praem., Abbot of St. Michael’s Abbey, to supply priests able to celebrate these Masses fittingly. It is hoped that this additional location, one that can accommodate a larger number of the faithful, will be of pastoral benefit to those who are attached to this older form of the Mass. It is the role of the Diocesan Bishop to be at the service of communio within the Church that he is called to shepherd. May this broader and more generous application of the norms articulated in Ecclesia Dei be a sign of this solicitude for all God’s Holy People in the Diocese of Orange."
