Steve Slezak is an  iconoclast host in the field of opera, & classic
composers of music on radio. His background speaks for itself.

Steve began his  broadcast career with WSUI/KSUI-FM, Iowa City, Iowa, in October of 1966. From 1968 through 1972, he was with the Armed Forces Radio and Television  service, in the Air Force, stationed numerous places in this country, and at Trabzon and Diyarbakir, Turkey, briefly in Vietnam, and  lastly, Ubon, Thailand, where he met his wife, Playung.

For 27 years, he ran "The Collector's Vault", an international tape recording service, specializing  in rare opera and concert performances, rare discs, etc.

He maintains this name for the series running on Crusade Radio. Steve is presently an announcer/producer/head of Traffic and Operations at WSUI/KSUI-FM.

By-the-way, the television anchors, Carol Simpson, John Cochran and Tom Brokaw, and the late actor, Greg Morris, got their starts at WSUI.
